My name is Madison and I am so excited to be working my dream job, running my own home daycare. I am married to a wonderful man, and together we have a 9 year old son, Galen, a 3 year old daughter, Lorelei, and a 1 year old daughter, Hazel. My love for my own children, and my desire to be with them as much as possible is what prompted me to open up a home daycare. I have loved being a stay at home mom and my children have taught me so much about love and life! I am happy to open up our home to other children who can join us as we continue to learn and grow.
My love for children started long before I had children of my own. As a teenager I loved spending time with younger children and started babysitting for friends and family. When I started college, I took many classes on child development, child psychology, and education. Although having my own children may have curtailed finishing my degree (in Child and Family Sociology), they did not stop me from interacting with other children. I helped a friend of mine run his home daycare, and often ran it independently while his family was on vacation. I also worked as a Para Educator in USD497, working with special needs children. I absolutely loved that job and grew so much as a person while I was in that field. The birth of my daughter in 2011 brought me back to being a stay at home mom, and I love that job more than I ever could have imagined.
As well as my background in behavioral development and child psychology, I have completed all mandatory state training for daycare licensure. This list includes, but is not limited to
- Recognizing the Signs of Child Abuse or Neglect (including prevention of head trauma)
- Basic Child Development
- Safe Sleep Practices and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)
- Pediatric First Aid and CPR
